My Lists is a simple, private checklist app. Everything you create stays on your device — there's no account, no sign-in, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to share or back it up yourself.
It works the same way on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Where the two differ, it's noted below. (On the App Store the iPhone and iPad version is listed as myListApp.)
Tap the + button in the top-right corner of the main screen. Give your list a name, or use the suggested date. Tap Add.
Open a list, then tap the + button. Type your item and tap Add to keep adding more, or Done when you're finished. Tap the circle beside an item to check it off, and tap its text to edit it.
Swipe an item left to delete it, or right to indent or outdent it under another item. To reorder items, press and hold one until it lifts, then drag it into place.
Finished with your checked-off items? Tap the trash icon at the top of a list to clear everything you've checked off at once.
From the main screen, swipe a list left to archive it (move it out of the way without deleting it) or delete it. Archived lists live under the "Archived" tab at the top and can be restored to Active anytime.
Deleted something by mistake? An Undo button appears briefly after every delete — tap it to bring the item or list right back.
Open any list and tap the share icon to export it as a PDF, ready to print, save, or send using any of the apps on your device.
My Lists can back up your lists to a place you control, separate from your device's automatic backups. Open Settings (the gear icon on the main screen) to find it.
Backups go to your own iCloud Drive. This requires iCloud Drive to be turned on for your device (Settings app → your name → iCloud → iCloud Drive).
The first time you back up, tap Choose Folder… and pick where your backups should live. You can choose a folder on the device, or one belonging to a cloud service you already use, such as Google Drive or Dropbox — anything that appears in your file picker. My Lists can only see the folder you pick.
You only need to do this once. If Back Up Now looks greyed out, it's because no folder has been chosen yet.
Worth knowing: My Lists deliberately opts out of Google's automatic backup, so your lists are never copied to your Google account without you asking. That also means they won't reappear on their own after uninstalling the app or switching to a new phone — backing up here is the only way to carry them across.
Restoring replaces all of your current lists with the ones in the backup, so the app always tells you how many lists and items are about to be restored before it does anything.
Backups use the same format on both platforms, so you can move your lists from one to the other. Back up on the first device, get the backup file across to the second — by email, a shared cloud folder, or a cable — then on the second device open Settings → Restore… → Choose a file… and pick it.
Backup files are named like myListApp-backup-2026-08-24_09-15-00.json, plus a
Latest.json that always holds your most recent backup.
From the main screen, tap the gear icon to choose light, dark, or system appearance, change how your lists are sorted, and manage backups.
