YAWA NOAA does not collect, sell, or share any personal data. The developer has no access to any information about you or your device.
The app may request access to your device's location in order to retrieve nearby weather conditions, forecasts, and alerts from public weather services. Your location is used solely to make these data requests and is never stored, logged, or transmitted to the developer or any third party.
The app may request permission to send local push notifications for weather alerts and an optional daily briefing. Notifications are generated entirely on your device — no data is transmitted to the developer or any third party in order to deliver them.
All calculations and data processing occur entirely on your device. YAWA NOAA uses no accounts, no analytics, no tracking technologies, and no advertising SDKs of any kind.
YAWA NOAA offers an optional feature that rewrites the detailed forecast into a short, friendly summary. This feature is turned off by default; you choose whether to enable it in Settings.
On supported devices, summaries are generated entirely on your device — using Apple Intelligence on iOS, or Google's on-device AI (Gemini Nano) on Android — and no forecast data ever leaves your device. Devices without on-device AI simply show the original National Weather Service wording.
Weather data is fetched directly from public providers including NOAA/National Weather Service (weather.gov), Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), and RainViewer (rainviewer.com). Location search is provided by Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org); when you search for a city, the text you type is sent to Nominatim to return matching results. YAWA NOAA does not control and is not responsible for the privacy practices of these services. No data about you is sent to these providers beyond what is minimally necessary to fulfill your request.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
