YAWA PWS Privacy Policy App

YAWA PWS (Personal Weather Station) ("the App") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and how it is stored.

1. Information Collected

YAWA PWS does not collect, store, transmit, or share personal information.

The App does not require user accounts and does not track users.

The App stores the following locally on your device:

  • Station ID (entered by you)
  • Weather.com API Key (entered by you)
  • App preferences (units, appearance mode, display mode)

This information is stored only on your device:

  • The API key is stored securely in the iOS Keychain.
  • Other preferences are stored using standard iOS local storage (UserDefaults).

This information is never transmitted to the developer.

2. Weather Data

The App retrieves weather data from:

  • Weather.com / Weather Underground (PWS API)

Requests are made directly from your device to Weather.com’s servers using your API key. The developer does not proxy, intercept, or store this data.

Weather.com may process requests according to their own privacy policies.

3. Data Sharing

YAWA PWS:

  • Does not sell data
  • Does not share data
  • Does not use analytics frameworks
  • Does not include advertising
  • Does not use tracking SDKs

No personal data leaves your device except for requests made directly to Weather.com for weather retrieval.

4. Data Retention

All stored information remains on your device until you choose to remove it.

  • App preferences and cached weather data (stored in UserDefaults) are removed when you uninstall the App.
  • Your API key (stored in iOS Keychain) may persist after uninstallation, as this is default iOS behavior for Keychain items. To ensure the API key is removed, use Settings → Clear API Key before uninstalling the App.

5. Security

The API key is stored securely using iOS Keychain services.

No cloud storage or external servers are used by the App.

6. Children’s Privacy

YAWA PWS does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect personal information, it complies with COPPA requirements.

7. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if the App’s data practices change. Updates will be reflected by revising the Effective Date above.
